MACS promotes all forms of public school options and public school choice, especially through public chartered schools. Our goals are to promote flexible, innovative, and accountable public schools chosen by parents, students, and teachers, and that are non-religious, free, and open to all students without admissions tests.
Public chartere schools use existing resources to encourage new affordable education options. Each school has budgetary autonomy and can create new approaches within public education. Themes often include environmental education, greenhouses that produce food for students as well as function as science classrooms, and energy efficient buildings. Small programs can locate in historic properties and renovate in-town sites, contributing to efforts to reduce sprawl.
